Shortly before the one-year anniversary of the flood disaster on the Ahr, the Koblenz public prosecutor's office brought charges against four suspects and accuses them of particularly perfidious behavior. Because the people stole gambling chips worth €125,000 from the flooded casino in the cash register area. As a reminder: during the flood of the century, 450 l/square meter fell from the sky, 134 people lost their lives and to this day the flood damage has not been fully repaired. One can already speak of a catastrophe. Of course, then exploiting it is doubly bad.
Casino in Bad Neuenahr: Serious damage during the night of the flood
To be precise, two men were in penetrated the Bad Neuenahr casino. There, the two 34-year-olds broke open a container in the checkout area and stole the six-digit chips from it. That alone is a joint theft in a serious case. Now there are three other suspects who have to answer to the district court for receiving stolen goods.
Among them a 33-year-old and a 37-year-old German, who each received a chip worth €5,000 from the two men and at the same time knew that the chips came from the theft. A 34-year-old German and an Italian citizen then tried to cash out the stolen chips in the Ring Casino at the Nürburgring. To be precise, they wanted to pay out €15,000. However, the employees there reacted with quick-wittedness and already knew about the theft in the flooded casino.
Group flew up trying to exchange!
The casinos belong together and therefore swapping would also be theoretically possible. As a result, the casino employees stalled the men and informed the police. The accused were arrested. A date for the main hearing has not yet been set. It cannot be assumed that the judgment here will be extremely lenient. Theft and burglary are serious crimes in their own right.
To take advantage of a century-long catastrophe that has left so many people dead and many more lost everything is just plain antisocial. The casino itself was also hit hard and according to their information they are still busy with the reconstruction. On the side of the small casino, those responsible show before and after pictures what the flood disaster could do. The pictures look bad.
