Distributor of state lotteries «Stoloto» together with Group-IB, in the six months of 2022, they identified and blocked 18.7 thousand resources that worked under the guise of state lotteries and illegally used the Stoloto branding. Of these:
- 10 168 – fraudulent sites;
- 8473 – fake accounts, posts in social networks or instant messengers;
- 64 – fake apps for mobile;
- 4 – phishing email addresses.
According to Group-IB, the activity of scammers in the lottery industry has increased significantly in the second quarter of this year. To control the surge in online fraud, the company checks tens of thousands of sources, blocking potentially suspicious resources.
Hackers step up work on hacking Russian gaming sites
DDoS-Guard came to these conclusions based on the results of a cybersecurity study. The number of recorded attacks on Russian gaming sites in the first half of 2022 is already three times higher than the number of similar attacks in the entire past year. In 2021, gaming sites suffered 1.9 thousand attacks, and in six months of 2022 – 6.2 thousand attacks. Both games and servers, as well as information and thematic sites, forums are taken into account. Experts believe that this increased pressure on the market may be due to the increasing turnover of the loot box market. From January to June, game artifacts in Russia were bought 45% more often, and the average purchase receipt increased by 6%.
The first SRO changed its leadership
< p style="text-align: justify;">The other day it became known that the First SRO of bookmakers, one of the two self-regulatory organizations operating on the Russian betting market, will hold a meeting to consider the issue of changing the president. Since October 2020, Nikolai Oganezov has been at the head of the organization. The SRO does not disclose the reasons for the change in leadership.
The results of the meeting were not long in coming. Nikolai Oganezov was replaced by Olga Zhuravskaya as president. In turn, Nikolai Oganezov will take the place of the head of the SRO board, which was previously occupied by Olga Zhuravskaya. One of the leading areas of Zhuravskaya's professional interests – formation of social responsibility of the betting industry in Russia. Olga initiated large-scale charitable programs of companies that are part of the First Federal SRO. Already in September, the First SRO will present a new development strategy, the key priority of which will be integration into the discussion of legislative initiatives that relate to the work of the Russian betting market.
“Fonbet” – sponsor of the Kontinental Hockey League
The signing of an agreement on a title partnership, calculated until the end of the 2024/2025 season, was announced by the KHL on the official website. The identity, logo and even the name of the bookmaker are integrated into the symbols and name of the league. Now the main hockey tournament will be called “Fonbet KHL Championship”. “Fonbet” also received the title partner of the Week of Hockey Stars. Recall that Fonbet became a KHL partner for the first time in 2017, signing a five-year contract. In 2021, the partners extended their cooperation for another three years.
Pari – new F League title partner
Liga F organizes football competitions among Russian amateur teams in the 8×8 format. She launched trial tournaments back in 2020, offering participants a prize fund of over 2 million rubles and collecting over 4 million broadcast views. Now the organization has entered into an agreement with the title sponsor – bookmaker Pari – to improve the quality of tournament organization and provide teams with more comprehensive services. The bookmaker's logo will be integrated into all promotional media, social networks and other communication channels of the F League.
In Russia, they will not be held liable for using a VPN
Roskomnadzor continues to actively block VPN services that violate Russian laws. Representatives of the authorities draw attention to the danger of using such services due to the possibility of intercepting user information. State Duma Deputy Maria Butina even proposed criminalizing those parents who would allow their children to use the anonymizer if YouTube was blocked. After that, active discussions began in society about possible prosecution in connection with the use of VPN. Such rumors were denied by the representative of the committee of the Federation Council on constitutional legislation. According to Andrei Klishas, there is no responsibility for the use of VPN services in Russia, and such an initiative is not even discussed.
The Russian Cybersport Federation will hold a series of tournaments with a prize fund of 3 million rubles
The Computer Sports Federation has announced a series of tournaments that will be held within the disciplines of CS:GO and Dota 2. The start of the competition is scheduled for August. Qualifying matches will be held on Saturdays and Sundays. The final will take place in September this year in the Moscow center Yota Arena. The tournament is designed for undergraduate and graduate students of universities, as well as graduates of 2022. Participants must be between 16 and 25 years old.
43% of Russians don't know what esports is
The results of the market research were presented by the VK Play platform. 1.5 thousand adult Russians took part in the survey. According to the results of the survey, it turned out that only 57% of respondents know about eSports, another 28% have just heard this term. Among those who are familiar with the concept, every fifth would like to play eSports professionally, and another 37% consider such an experience interesting. Respondents also named their favorite games, traditionally the most popular was Dota 2 – 39%. Also in the top were Warface – 28%, Call of Duty – 23% and CS:GO – 23%.
