The Thai government is considering how to boost the country's economy and generate additional tax revenue. That's why cannabis was only recently legalized in Thailand, which actually has very strict drug laws. This brings tax revenue and of course tourists to the country.
On June 9 alone, when cannabis was legalized, 6,000 people were released from prison in one fell swoop. With the legalization of the gambling market, the country hopes that tourists will also leave a lot of money in the country's gambling offers. Because so far they have traveled to neighboring countries to gamble there.
Hard gambling rules? Only for citizens, not for tourists!
There is a minimum age requirement of 20 and local casino visitors must prove that their account has just over €13,000. This specification shows that the country would actually prefer to pursue its zero tolerance policy, with which it wants to protect its own citizens.
When it comes to foreign tourists, the country doesn't care if they lose their belongings in one of the casinos. In the municipality of Thailand alone, up to €11 billion in additional tax revenue can be generated. The first casino will be located in the Phuket area, followed by one south of Pan Gaga province – both areas are already very popular with tourists.
Thailand has a total of 77 provinces in which corresponding new regulations of the gambling law can come into force, but the time has not yet come. The draft around the gambling regulation was discussed by the Thai legislator. However, they have not yet made any recommendation as to whether they want to implement this. Since Parliament is not yet on vacation for the summer, this could still be done during the upcoming parliamentary break in September.

Certainly an interesting thing, especially for young people who go to Thailand for the moonshine raves. Thailand will ensure a significant increase in new tourists. If you are about to book a trip to Thailand after the news, you can take your time.
On the one hand, the legalization of gambling areas is far from over. And on the other hand, it remains a country in which you have to behave correctly during your vacation, otherwise you'll end up in jail faster than you can say hello.
You should visit Thailand for the Fullmoon Raves alone!
The Thai police take very little fun. Before cannabis legalization and even now after it, there is still a zero tolerance policy against all other drugs: even with the smallest finds, people end up in jail here. And then at the latest it won't be funny anymore. Even if you misbehave in the country and somehow insult the state system or politics directly or indirectly, it can quickly lead to a stay behind bars.
It is therefore best to wait until the gambling regulations are actually in place and then, if you want to combine cannabis and gambling, there will certainly be hotels in Phuket & Co give where it will be possible and where a vacation is worthwhile. Anyone who likes electronic music should also check out what's on offer at the time of their vacation. Because in Thailand, in addition to the full moon parties, there are also regular major events that are worth a trip for fans of electronic music.
