Anyone who watches Twitch regularly knows the situation: once you follow around 50 different streamers, you don't feel like subscribing to everyone. This means that the streamers you do not have a subscription to will receive advertising. And this ad every year in September, which also goes by the name of Subtember, is way too much. Twitch is currently overdoing it enormously and not only interrupting ongoing streams with multi-part advertisements. Even when you start a new stream for which you don't have a subscription, you get annoying German advertising, which in terms of quality could also be shown on lousy television.
Not just too much advertising, but also bad advertising like on TV…
Let's take a current practical example: anyone who regularly watches Twitch in Germany probably knows Gerolsteiner advertising by heart. Regardless of whether such an over-presence of an advertisement really helps a brand or possibly achieves exactly the opposite with the viewers, I will leave it open. I personally will never buy the Gerolsteiner set due to the excessive advertising. I can now recite the ad by heart.
The solution that Twitch should work on would be a subscription model where viewers pay Twitch a monthly fee, for example €20, in return for which every channel can be watched without advertising. And even if advertising has to be placed, advertising agencies should make at least some of the effort and create content that appeals to the target group that watches Twitch instead of TV. It doesn't make any sense at all to run commercials that are identical to those on television. Above all, not against the background that Twitch knows exactly how old you are, which target group you belong to and which commercials are most likely to appeal to you.
No more classic TV advertising, please, but target-group-oriented clips!
This isn't television where the television station doesn't know which target group is watching the telly, so it's a colorful mix different commercials between Persil and the new perfume is played. In the meantime I am extremely happy that I have a whole series of casino streams in my setup.
Because often there is no advertising. And that's easy on my nerves. You have to put it this way, this year Twitch is overdoing it with the ads. It is to be hoped that next month will be different again. Or that those responsible introduce a subscription model that generally doesn't show any more advertising.
