We have already reported that Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine resulted in FIFA banning the Russian national team from the tournament. Now part of the European gambling industry is following suit and showing solidarity with the Ukraine.
Malta: No EU passports more for Russians and Belarusians
The small island state of Malta is not only the European center of the gambling industry. A large number of the official casino licenses come from there and thus ensure a safe online casino experience. Almost all renowned casinos from Europe are located on the island. At the same time, this is one of the European countries in which Russians could buy an EU passport, so to speak. This means that these passports were easily issued to citizens of Russia in return for payment of correspondingly high amounts of money.

That's the end of it now. The Maltese government is currently putting applications for naturalization on hold. At the same time, the well-known social club from Malta has revoked the honorary membership of both the Russian ambassador and his wife, and both are no longer welcome in the club. With this step, the club wants to express its solidarity towards the Ukrainians, as it said in an email to the ambassador.
iGaming branch collects donations
At the same time, various players in the gaming industry have started collecting donations. For example, pre-match and live betting provider Parimatch, established in Kyiv in 1994, will allocate €1 million to serve Ukrainian citizens. The British gambling group Enttain from the betting provider comparison donates €60,000 for medical care for the citizens and the SBC Group has started a fundraising campaign in which over £150,000 was already collected to create this news.
It stays closed hope that fundraising campaigns will no longer be necessary and that the absolutely unnecessary war of aggression in Ukraine will come to an end. We would like to commend the fact that the gaming industry also shows its solidarity here, as it still has a dubious reputation today.
